Logo Reveal: Monroe Sport Center + Mugsy's Sports Grille & Bar

Today, we're thrilled to share the journey behind the redesign of Monroe Sport Center and Mugsy's Sports Grille & Bar logos. I had the great pleasure of working closely with my brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Sharon, on this project! They, along with their business partner Nate, recently acquired both businesses housed under one roof in Monroe, Michigan.

The Vision: Sporty, Modern, and Cohesive

The challenge was to create logos that exuded a sporty, modern vibe while maintaining a cohesive identity for both establishments. We aimed for designs that could seamlessly adapt to various mediums – from signage and websites to embroidered and screen-printed items. Even to be etched on a wrestling style title belt that served as a PBA Regional Bowling Tournament trophy! The classic bowling pin icon, lane marking arrow, and bowling balls in the O’s of Monroe are the basis of the MSC visuals. A frosty mug with a knife and fork represent Mugsy’s.

Maybe the coolest trophy I’ve ever seen! I can’t wait to see what other cool things this logo gets used on!

A Nod to Tradition: Established 1954

Monroe Sport Center holds decades of history, dating back to its establishment in 1954. To honor its heritage, we incorporated a badge-style logo reminiscent of classic bowling patches. This not only pays homage to the past but also adds a touch of nostalgia to the brand. Additionally, Mugsy’s has been in business since 2003!

Versatility at its Core

This logo suite caters to versatility. It includes not only the badge-style logos for that retro charm, it also has horizontal versions, icons for digital applications, and horizontal versions featuring both logos for a united front.

A Striking Color Palette

For the bowling alley, we chose a cherry red inspired by the classic stripes on bowling pins. This choice not only nods to tradition but also ensures visibility and vibrancy across various platforms. Meanwhile, the restaurant adopts a golden yellow, a color long associated with Mugsy’s, which adds a touch of sophistication to complement its delicious offerings. These two colors combined with black and white, make an attention grabbing look.

Bringing Communities Together

Monroe Sport Center is more than just a bowling alley, and Mugsy’s is more than just a restaurant – they’re a space for friends, family, and community. A place where memories are made, connections are strengthened, and communities rally together. Also yes, it's also a fantastic place to bowl and enjoy delicious food!

The new logos for Monroe Sport Center and Mugsy's Sports Grille & Bar embody the spirit of the businesses – a perfect blend of traditional and modern, versatility, and a welcoming atmosphere for all. We're excited to see these logos put to use for various elements of the businesses, creating a visual identity that reflects the heart and soul of this cherished establishment.

Here's to a new era for Monroe Sport Center and Mugsy's Sports Grille & Bar!
