A Deep dive into marketing storytelling
When you need more than a logo (and you do!), it can be overwhelming. How do you talk about what you do? Who is your target audience? What is a good call to action? Do you know what your values are? Do you have a clear and concise mission statement?
Entrepreneurs and nonprofits generally excel at their services or creating their products, but they may not be as skilled at marketing—and that’s okay.
Paper Heart Design Co. creates dynamic brands that empower heart-driven entrepreneurs and nonprofits to connect deeply with their communities. Starting with your values, mission, and story, we develop creative systems that take the guesswork out of marketing. We build your brand from the ground up with services including logo design, visual identity, marketing materials, and communications development. Our vision is to use the power of storytelling to create connections and elevate your brand.

Meet the Communications Team:
Paper Heart Design founder Annie Stout first met Reneé Deckrow and Dacia Livingston Parker in 2016 during a job interview to be a painting instructor at Captured Community. That initial connection quickly evolved into providing graphic design support for other businesses in The Ashman Plaza. Annie was then invited to join BRAVE, a support group for creative entrepreneurs. Although initially hesitant due to her youngest child not yet being in school, she decided to give it a try with her three-year-old in tow. After her daughter started preschool, she was able to engage even more fully. The encouragement, resources, and confidence gained from this group changed the trajectory of her business. What started as a dream slowly became a reality as she saw these women successfully building their businesses and supporting each other through the process.
Naturally, a group of entrepreneurs frequently discusses the ever-changing and often elusive act of marketing. Reneé, Dacia, and the group recommended a whole library of books, which Annie eagerly devoured. Over the years, as all their businesses grew, it became clear that they needed to work together to offer these services outside of BRAVE. When they collaborate, they call themselves The Ashman Collective, since they all work in the building Reneé and her husband own, The Ashman Plaza.
Reneé is one of the most caring and empathetic people Annie has ever met, a powerhouse of kindness and innovative ideas. You might know her from Captured Photography or Live Oak Coffeehouse and Live Oak Coffee Roasters. Dacia is a visionary, community-focused creative rooted in empowering emerging artists and is a deep thinker. You may know her from Parker Lane Art & Design Studios or Next Door Photos Great Lakes Bay. Dacia and Annie also both serve on the Public Arts Midland and Art Seen Festival committees. Their collaboration, along with growing the design team, has transformed this business from a graphic design studio into a full-fledged communications agency.
We believe in creativity, integrity, and purpose driven work. We believe clear communication is a game changer. We believe collaboration leads to elevation. We believe in the power of stories, and yours deserves to be told.
