Color Palette: Top 10 of 2020

What a big year for color! Being stuck at home for a great deal of the year really gave me some time to think about color and create all kinds of color palettes. I’ve created color schemes for branding plans for clients, and I made them for remodeling our home. I even let my kids make color palettes over the summer when we decided to let them paint their bedrooms. I’ve started a new series of paintings that are focused on color and texture. Color kind of saved me this year!

Color Palette: Radiant Reds

I’ve been creating color palettes in this blog capacity for over a year now! It’s been really fun exploring color in this way and seeing how all the hues work together. Color is powerful. It’s expressive. Today, rather than a theme as I typically do, I just want to explore the color red. It’s a primary color. It’s bold. Red is associated with love, passion, and also aggression, which one might argue is still passion. It’s a complicated color. Intense.

My guest designer this week is my nine year old daughter, Allie. She is a very thoughtful and creative soul. She is also a girl who loves the outdoors, like her mom. We looked to the forest floor to find color inspiration and we were not disappointed. These eight color palettes prove once again, that nature is the best place to find beautiful color schemes.

Color Palette: Sweet Treats

My guest designer this week is my six year old daughter, Maddie. She has an amazingly creative mind and recently told me when she grows up she wants to be an artist, and work with me, a baker, and a writer. She’s got all her creative bases covered. Right now she wants to bake all the things and she loves bright colors. Creating some sweet treat color palettes with her was so fun!
