Freebie Friday: Glennon Doyle

It’s the very first ever Freebie Friday on the Paper Heart Design blog! I’m so glad you came to check it out.

I was listening to Elizabeth Gilbert’s podcast, Magic Lessons, a few days ago and came upon the episode with Glennon Doyle. If you haven’t heard it yet, go check it out! It’s really terrific. They have a beautiful discussion about life and vulnerability and fear. My favorite part was near the end. Liz asks Glennon if she can speak to the fear of starting something without feeling 100% ready. I listened to this portion several times to really let it sink in…

”We’re always holding some kind of invitation from the universe and we are arguing with the invitation saying, “I’m not ready. I’m not good enough. I need to take another class! I need to lose ten pounds. I need to do some more research. I need to be more like her. I need to listen to my mom who said I could never do anything.” We’re arguing, and arguing, and arguing. We are deeming ourselves unworthy of invitations instead of trusting the inviter. Right? Creativity doesn’t ask us to be ready first. It just finds us on the bathroom floor, hands us an invitation and says, “Don’t wait till you’re ready, just get up and dance with me.”  Everything on Earth... Everything beautiful in the history of the world has been made by people who show up before they’re ready.”

Inevitably, my gut instinct was to share this with the amazing group of women in my entrepreneur group, which I did. Then I decided to take it a step further and make a wallpaper for my phone. That turned into a free printable and here we are!
