Encouraging Quotes About Winter

Steinbeck Winter Quote WH.jpg
What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.
— John Steinbeck

Winter can be a hard time for people living in cold and often gloomy climates. There isn’t a lot of sunshine, it’s hard to get outside. Don’t get me wrong, I know winter in Michigan is beautiful, but sometimes Vitamin D and exercise isn’t enough when you’ve hit late January and haven’t seen the sun in weeks. There are many things we can do do help ourselves in these times, and I’m not a medical professional, so I won’t even try to be helpful in that way. If you’re feeling depressed, please call your doctor. What I want to share are some beautiful quotes that help me find perspective and remember that the winter is temporary and that spring will come, as it always does.

Keep looking for the beautiful ordinary moments. Here are some of my favorite things about winter:

  • The way snow can fall in slow motion

  • The way snow can highlight every tiny branch on a tree

  • Hot drinks

  • Cozying up with a blanked to read or watch a movie

  • The slower pace winter bring, which allows time to reset and refocus

  • The crunch of snow under boots

I hope the following quotes bring a smile to your face as they do to mine. If you have a favorite quote about winter, I would love to hear it.

I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, ‘Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.
— Lewis Carroll
