Read MoreYou can look at some things and feel their age. They have a certain warmth. I love old things, rusty things, things that have stories. I love the faded colors, the bright colors, the retro colors. I love that certain colors can transport you to a different era.
Read MoreI came across an article yesterday where a survey in Singapore listed artists in the top five non-essential jobs. My favorite part of the article was the graphics and illustrations, which were of course created by an artist. That made me laugh a bit.
Read MoreBlue is my favorite color. It’s so hard to choose just one, but I always gravitate towards it. It comes in so many beautiful tints and shades. Romantic, dark, bright, stability, depth, intelligence… it can convey so many things, depending on how you use it.

Read MoreI came to a realization recently. Maybe never feeling content in ourselves is OK. Maybe it’s because there’s always more to do, learn, grow. We are in a constant state of becoming. We are supposed to be.

That means you took risks and tried new things. We have to be willing to try things that scare us. We have to be willing to be bad at things. Even if you never master whatever it is you’re longing to do, at least you can say you tried, and you can always keep trying. We have to be brave and do it scared. If your project fails, you are not a failure.
Read MoreMy guest designer this week is my six year old daughter, Maddie. She has an amazingly creative mind and recently told me when she grows up she wants to be an artist, and work with me, a baker, and a writer. She’s got all her creative bases covered. Right now she wants to bake all the things and she loves bright colors. Creating some sweet treat color palettes with her was so fun!

Don’t dismiss them or force yourself to act happy if you’re not. False positivity drives me batty, but remaining optimistic is always a good goal. Right now is a hard time, and though I do fully believe in the optimism of “This too shall pass,” I also fully understand sometimes you just need to let out a big annoyed, “UGH…”
